The 10th Kelly Woodford Match was played under clear blue skies on Sunday. We couldn’t have wished for more perfect weather or better team spirit.

The day commenced with the Junior Game at 11.30am with the children winning (Parents: 4-3-27, Children 9-5-59). After they’d played Louise and Netta delivered ‘Acknowledgment of Country’ and then our very fine choir proudly sang our National Anthem.

At 12.30 the Main Game began with the teams running on to the grounds. What a moment that was! Tony Day, our ever so generous sound man, played rousing footy songs as the players flexed muscles. Then the siren went and the 1st quarter began. The scoreboards keep showing different leaders throughout the match and there was certainly excitement in the air. When the siren sounded at the end of the final quarter, the children were once again victorious! (Parents: 10-10-70, Children 15-11-101).

To keep the players energised we had the most wonderful support team who spent the day cooking sausages, serving hot dogs, dim sims, drinks and sno cones! Thank you to Sandi, Wayne, Cher, John, Marnie, Tash, Janet, Sam, Rochelle, Gregor and Jo! What a team! Thank you!

Thank you to Dino Marnika who umpired both matches. Once again he did a fabulous job and we are all so appreciative of his talents.

Steve and Dave were outstanding goal umpires! Thank you.

Nick Rhoden, Adrian Anderson & Ben Auchettl were the coaches of the parents (games 1 & 2), whilst Sam Cheshire was the children’s coach!

Saffron Gordon was the winner of the cake competition and picked up a dinner voucher from Gattica Cafe on Carlisle Street! Not only did Saffron’s cup cakes look spectacular, they tasted equally as good! Congratulations Saffron!

Half time ‘Sayers Sprints’ were held with children scooping up free Bounce passes. After the children’s races the adults took to the field. Congratulations to all adults who entered the races! You’re all winners.

Our sensational commentators did a super job throughout the day. Thanks to Fiona, Colin, Chris , Stephen and Lyn!

Most importantly I’d like to acknowledge the tremendous work undertaken by our organising committee who oversaw every aspect of the day and ensured all went to plan! An enormous thank you to: Rhonda, Lyn, Dino, Jeremy, Fiona and Steve. Brilliant!

Overall it was another hugely successful community spirited day. Lots of fun, laughter and quality time spent together.

Thank you everyone! Once again – congratulations my cherubs for conquering the game and playing magnificently well!
