I am delighted to announce that yesterday SKPS received a couple of special visitors and some very good news.
Around lunchtime, we were visited by Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister Martin Foley, who announced that a re-elected Andrews government would commit a further $5million to SKPS for building works. This is on top of the $5.46 million already committed in the FY2019 budget.
These additional funds would essentially enable us to deliver on our master plan in total. As the media release describes, they will enable us to demolish and replace the Sakura building – and this is on top of the funding we received in May.
This is an extraordinary outcome and the culmination of an extensive lobbying effort, by successive school councils, over many years. It relies on the re-election of the government, but is an enormous opportunity for SKPS to be completely revolutionised in the space of a few short years.
I am sure you will all join me in celebrating this incredible announcement and the culmination of a vision for SKPS that preserves our valuable open space and future-proofs our school for generations to come.
I am so thrilled that together with the support of the Government and Martin Foley in particular, we are literally building the future.
