It has been a while since any news has been shared regarding our Basketball Stadium. This is simply because we have little news to share, despite the continual work being done, in particular by John Higginson.
Unfortunately the planning process for our magnificent Basketball Stadium has proved more challenging than anticipated as we’ve been asked to provide much more detail than originally advised, including architectural drawings being required when engineering drawings were all that was asked for initially, as well as Heritage Victoria, Melbourne Water and COPP all changing their requirements after initial permits had been applied for. This has, of course increased the costs and incurred repeated delays. Much to everyone’s frustration!
We found ourselves in a position where the allocated funds may have been insufficient to complete the project. Plainly this would have been a disaster!! So it was decided to split the project into two phases and delay the start till the 2015 Christmas holidays.
The courts themselves will be playable before the beginning of first term and hopefully the roof will be on before the worst of the winter weather strikes!
Please be assured you that School Council remains absolutely committed to this construction going ahead and to make it both administratively and fiscally feasible.
