It is is absolutely optional whether or not parents decide to provide food to celebrate their child’s birthday. Approximately 40% of children bring some type of food to celebrate their birthdays with their class buddies. If you would like to provide something for your child we request the following: small cupcakes, honey joys or chocolate crackles (all small in size please). We would welcome cut up fruit platters ie ‘watermelon mountains!’ Please no large cakes and no lolly bags or blocks/ boxes of chocolates. If lolly bags or blocks/ boxes of chocolates are brought to school they will be sent home with your child. Birthday food will be shared AFTER lunch to ensure children eat the lunch provided by parents first.
We do love birthday and will continue to sing Happy Birthday at assemblies and provide birthday stickers!
In regard to children handing out birthday party invitations, we do not have a policy and nor will the school be establishing such a policy.
