Yesterday our Year 4 billy cart teams competed against each other to determine the top 4 fastest billy carts. The racing schedule included:
  • 11:30-12:00 – endurance races, involving 4 laps of the race track
  • 12:00 – obstacle races – a test of skill – timed individual races
  • 12:30-1:00 sprint off – fast and furious and incredibly exciting to watch!
The children who were track side were full of enthusiasm as they jumped about, cheering on the teams.
Thank you to the parents who came to support the event. A special thank you to Cassandra King, Dylan Taylor, Viv Gannon and Mel Park for developing and bringing to fruition such great learning opportunities for our children. The wonderful work they planned was shared widely, thanks to the presence of Channel 9.
Peter Hitchener and Allan Raskall were present throughout the entire event. They were absolutely amazing. Peter and Allan responded to the persuasive letters the children had written and arrived with gusto!!!! They were incredibly enthusiastic and engaged wholeheartedly with the children and community. Allan had a hoot of a time being pushed in one of the billy carts by an energetic group of children. A special thank you to Channel 9 News for supporting our children.
What the cameras captured in those few seconds on TV reflected the massive amount of fun our children had on the day. What a brilliant glimpse of what life is like at SKPS!
