On Tuesday night our 13 Buildings, Grounds, Sustainability and Masterplan committee members met to discuss the enormous amount of data we received from our Community Masterplan meeting late in Term 3. Students and staff were also asked for their input and together we ended up with a fascinating list of ideas, thoughts, constructive feedback and compliments. We have now started the process of categorising the information and translating it into a Masterplan. Our first planned step is to develop a ‘Lessons Learnt’ and ‘Action Item’ list.
We also discussed the construction of our long awaited and exciting Ga-Ga pit. All materials have been sourced and delivered and under the grand leadership of John Higginson it will be constructed later this month. The children will be able to enter the pit to play their fist game in November.
You might have noticed our new tree addition to the school. ‘Friends of the Elm’ kindly donated two 4m tall Elm trees to the school to provide much needed shade for Manabi building and parents patiently waiting for their children at pick-up time. Sadly, we also lost a tree on the junior playground, but it will live on, as the mulch and the trunk will be used in the new play area in the front of our school.
Finally, the team walked through our nearly finished new playground in the front of the school. The new fence has been installed, the boardwalk, the totem poles and the 12 boulders have gone in and the new seating connecting the play area with the junior courtyard is just divine. All that is left to do is to put the mulch cover on, sourced from our own trees, and finalise the footpath. We will have our grand opening shortly. Please stay tuned!
