生活のための学習

We have just returned from 3 spectacular days, out of the classroom and into nature, where we soared to new heights, formed new friendships and challenged ourselves to try new experiences.

Students worked in activity groups where they participated in:

-Rock Pool Ramble: a beautiful walk down to Mt Eliza Beach where we completed a scavenger hunt. We searched for starfish, shells, crabs, seagulls and many other items (some that belong on the beach and some that do not).

Bike Education: students learnt the basics around using a bike with gears and then completed a bike track, which included hills, dips and a range of terrain to ride over.

Bush Craft: this is where students’ creativity was at play! Using items found in the environment all around the camp, students created a range of craft/art pieces.

Kitchen Garden Cooking: this activity focused on sustainability, as students used ingredients from the camp garden to make and cook a pizza for their lunch.

Flying Fox: students were strapped in as they whizzed across the campground.

The Giant Swing: 18 metres high! This was a team effort, as we had to pull each other up before we could swing back to ground.

UHF Radio: working in teams students had 15 questions to answer; they had to explore the campgrounds to answer each question and radio back to base to check they were correct.

Camp Frisbee: similar to mini golf, students had to throw a Frisbee into a basket, tallying their throws and trying to get the lowest score.

It was an absolute delight watching the students challenge and push themselves out of their comfort zone to try something new. New friendships were formed and old bonds were strengthened. We were spoilt with delicious meals and full to the brim with snacks in between. The teachers would like to say how absolutely proud we are of each and every student and we feel each of them has returned a little taller, a little wiser and are eager to count down the days until their next camping experience. I would also like to thank the staff and parents who censured that every child has a terrific time. Thank you to the following wonderful adults: Cassandra King, Viv Gannon, Dylan Taylor, Mel Park, Matt Pike, David Baker, Danny Thomas, Dan Barron, James Cox, Katie Graham, and Pablo Francis.
