On Wednesday the Year 5 and 6 children from the Japanese School of Melbourne visited our school and had a tremendous time!
The day commenced with a special assembly in the library, where our Year 5/6 children welcomed them warmly. Our School Captains delivered excellent speeches in Japanese and all children sang ‘We Are Australian’. Everyone then embarked on an activity where they were required to ask each other questions in English (Japanese children) or Japanese (SKPS children). The children participated in a session with Sam Cheshire where they played AFL and Dodge Ball before heading off to Art where they were involved in creating Aboriginal Artwork. Year 3 joined in the fun by teaching our new friends hand clapping games, which they seemed to love! Recess and lunch saw everyone rising to the challenge and stretching their language knowledge as far as they could as they tried to communicate with each other! It was a delightful day.
