The Kelly Woodford Cup was a spectacular event!
The oval looked amazing as players flooded on to the field to play their little (and not so little) hearts out!
Once again, the children were the champions, scoring 9.10.64 compared to the parents/staff who scored 4.2.26. The children were extraordinary on the field!
A huge thank you to Peta Wetzels, Rhonda Glenfield and Chris Borcek – the main organisers and their brilliant team: Cindy, Kylee, Mip, Sally, John, Dean, Dave, Jenni, Heath, Stacey, Stef and Katherine.
A special thank you to Jasmine Garner who played for our local VFL team, the St Kilda Sharks, before being drafted to Collingwood, where she played in the FIRST EVER game of AFLW in 2017 at Ikon Park in Carlton and kicked the FIRST EVER goal! Jasmine accepted an invitation from expansion club, North Melbourne, and played this year’s season for the Roos. We were thrilled to have Jasmine at our very own KWC match! Jasmine did the warm up and ‘tossed the coin’ to get the game underway.
Thank you also to:
Our magnificent umpire – Dino Marnika. Dino has umpired our KWC matches since the beginning of time! Thank you Dino for your enthusiasm, support, guidance and expertise over the many years!
Our extraordinary PE teacher, Arly Hocking, who inspired and trained the children and was seen on the field playing in the junior and senior teams!
Goals umpires – Cassandra King, Dave Lister, Kate Rees, Steve Botond and Michael Rankin
Coaches – Liz Reus, Michael Johnstone, Dylan Taylor and Cathy Davis
Mick Rennie who organised the sound system – excellent work!
Everyone who helped on the sausage sizzle
Last but not least … thank you to our incredible student commentators!
Thank you to everyone who played, everyone who supported and everyone who added to the spirit of the day!
