Our inaugural Art Show was a roaring success!
It was a wonderful opportunity to immerse ourselves in magnificent works of art and build community spirit, whilst raising funds for our school. The art show saw approximately 160 pieces of art work on display.
I would love to thank the organisers of our Art Show, especially the coordinator of the event, Belinda Galloway, who had a vision and saw it come to fruition. Brilliant work Bel! Bel was supported by a large team of people including the ever energetic and fabulous Rhonda Glenfield, Genevieve Lewicki, Mel Grenville, Stix and Jeanette Keser.
Renowned artist, Julian Twigg, our expert artistic friend, spent considerable time viewing the works and selected the winner and 2nd place getter. Thank you Julian! Those who attended the Friday night function had the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award, which was presented to one of our parents, Sarah McCoy. Congratulations Sarah!
Our MC was the extraordinary Colin Lane who, as always, was magnificent! Thank you so very much Colin for your support and your incredible flair!
We had a vast number of parents who helped to set up, and others who worked at the sausage sizzle, cake stall and t-shirt stall. These included: Sarah, Mina, Stix, Donna, Craig, Stuart, Simone, Simon, Danielle, Maggie, Jo, Wilhe, Berenice and Sophie (who clocked on for the first shift and remained on board all day – thanks Sophie). The support of the whole team was greatly appreciated.
Thank you also to the many parents and community members who ever so generously supported the school by donating items for the Silent Auction. We felt so very fortunate with the offers/items received. Thank you.
A special thank you to Georgina Damn from Damn Fine Foods, who donated 500 sausages which were superbly cooked by Stix and his right hand man (boy), Atticus from 2F!
We were entertained by Amy and Tom on Friday night before Alec the DJ took over. They were fabulous. On Saturday Amy Curlis returned and was joined by a number of our parents, Shar Mae Amor, Stephen Ryan-Gledhill, Greg Rosbard-Beane, Dave Leggett and Claire Sharples, and played to a captive audience. They were incredible! Our very own Nicky and Jack performed the cello and violin and were accompanied by their Dad, Rohan. Beautiful pieces were played for everyone to enjoy! Thank you to all musicians involved in this special event.
I would like to thank and acknowledge our wonderful sponsors, McGrath S Kilda. We thank you for your generous support. Thank you also to Blue Pyrenees winery in Avoca and Mountain Goat Brewery who generously donated alcohol for the evening event. Thank you to the bar staff: Jo O’Malley, Mary and Dave Lister, Chris Borcek and Anabel Herr who worked wonders all night! What a team! Thank you.
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who attended the Art Show. Your support was greatly appreciated. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. At the time of posting this blog, I am not aware of the financial success of the night but the community spirit was priceless!
