The Bicycle Hospital started as two Dad’s repairing bikes under a tree at their kids’ local school to ensure every kid has access to a working bike so they can ride regularly. Two and a half years later Dr Cranky has helped repair and give away over 230 bikes from the Flemington Primary School Bicycle Hospital and has expanded to five other schools, including ours. Since he started the program at SKPS 18 bikes have been donated, 17 bikes were repaired with the help of children and 14 bikes have been given away to our community.
The program relies on donations, so if you have any spare bikes, parts, helmets, bells, locks at home please drop them off at school on a Monday, it will help a deserving child to experience the joy of riding.
To make it a sustainable project, Dr Cranky needs ongoing parent support. Recently Rocco’s Dad, Pablo, volunteered his help, but we still need additional parents to keep the program going. If you are keen please drop in Mondays before or after school and have a chat with Bart and Pablo.
