生活のための学習

Mollie Buxton and James Clapham ran a scintillating Parents as Literacy Helpers course. The parents who attended were a highly engaged group – questioning, discussing and supporting each other to deepen their knowledge around how children learn to read and write, and ways to support them. Some key topics touched upon were – the growth mindset, the ‘Six Big Skills’ (oral language, phonological awareness, phonic knowledge, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension) and concepts of print. After a workshop in the staffroom, parents had the opportunity to practise their skills with the children in Prep N. A great time was had by all!
