Dear Parents,

Please read the information below regarding the Supporting Kids in Primary Schools (SKiPS) program.

SKIPS is a mental health promotion program, specifically designed for Primary Schools. The program aims to reduce stigma about mental health and mental illness and to increase the confidence and understanding of both student and teacher in supporting children and families affected by mental illness.

Some of the topics covered are:

  • Health, mental health and mental illness.
  • Nature and impact of mental illnesses including depression, anxiety, bipolar mood disorder and schizophrenia.
  • The importance of care to recovery.
  • The person behind the illness – what it is like to live with a mental illness.

We will be running the SKiPS program during Term 2 for the children in Grade 5 and 6.

There is also an opportunity for you to attend the PARENT WORKSHOP. The workshop is for ALL interested parents.

The Parent Workshop, will be run on Wednesday 24 April from 2 – 3.30pm in the staffroom.

Please let Mary or Al in the front office know if you will be attending, by Friday 5 April.

Please come along and learn more about the SKiPS program.
