Dear SKPS Community,
Today the 2019 Seito Kai became Principals for the Day, which has been a great experience. At the end of the day we asked students about what their highlights were this year. Some of the students favourite moments were:
“Reading & writing because of lots of words”- Sam PK
“Meeting new friends”- Stevie 1J
“Swimming because I don’t have lessons and it made me a better swimmer”- Carl 2F
“The Environment Expo, I learnt a lot”- Ava 3MS
“Camp was the best, you just can’t beat it!”- Evie 4TH
“Unique Week created by Whole School Community to share the message with other students about how being unique is good” – Vienna 5E
“Running a stall at this years Twilight Fete with my group”- Harper 6D
Seito Kai’s reflections on being Principal for the Day:
Mila- I have really enjoyed being Principal for the Day. Today included speeches, farewells, talent shows and talking to the 2020 Seito Kai. I have learnt about all the work Miss Higgins puts in. I am really inspired by all the work the teachers put in and the effort they put into their classes. I am very grateful for the opportunity and also for the opportunity as Seito Kai this year.
Millie- I have really enjoyed this great opportunity of being Principal for the Day.. I have loved putting myself in Miss Higgins’s shoes and experiencing all the things she does during the day and believe me there is a lot!! I was able to have a great time with my other co principals (aka other Seito Kai) and eat some great food! Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity and have loved my whole year as a Seito Kai and the people around me!
Maddie- Ms Higgins has a busy but interesting job. Being Principal for the Day was exciting because I got to see what Ms Higgins would generally do. I learnt about how busy she truly can be, but she still made time for the most important thing, the children. When I realised the next thing on our agenda was to ask the students what their highlights were, I was confused. I went to ask Ms Higgins why we were doing it and the answer was inspiring. ‘No matter what I may have to do, I enjoy hearing what the students have to say about the school, it warms my heart’. Therefore, that is what I think the best thing I learned today was. Not only about being a hardworking principal, but being an overall incredibly caring and heartfelt one.
Aashi – Being Principal of the Day made me understand more of how busy Ms Higgins is in daily life and ways has something to do, I also learnt what happens when you are in the same situation as Ms Higgins and how she deals with it. I will probably never forget this day and how much fun I had.
Josie- Today I learnt that being principal means that you will probably never be able to stick to the schedule. There are so many different responsibilities and things to do, most people underestimate how many things Ms Higgins has to do in one day. I had heaps of fun today but even though it was awesome I don’t think I could do it for a whole year. Thank you to Ms Higgins for this wonderful day and I know truly know how hard it is being a principal.
Harry- Being Principal for the Day was a great experience. I ate too much but I had a good time. My day included being MC for the talent contest, doing a handover to the 2020 Seito Kai, collecting pizza and doing a speech for the sadly leaving Mr Clapham. The day was enjoyable because I felt what it was like to run a school, even telling off my own brother! (which was fun). I would like to thank Miss Higgins for this experience and would gladly do it all again.
Ayanna- Today the Seito Kai got to be principals for the day.My favourite part was the 2020 Seito Kai handover and I got to meet and know the 2020 Seito Kai more.I enjoyed experiencing a day where we got to do things that we don’t usually do.Overall, this was a great experience for the end of the year.
Archie- Today I was one of the Principals for the Day. I had a lot of fun and learnt so much about the life of a principal. It was a very busy schedule and I learnt how sometimes you have to alter the schedule to allow time for more important things.
Soleil- Being Principal For The Day was such a unique experience. I was able to practice skills such as patience, organisation and communication. This experience gave me the chance to put myself in Ms Higgins’ shoes. I will never ever complain about a late meeting again. Being a principal is very hard to keep up to date with your agenda and you’re continuously interrupted. I was able to converse with students on what they love about the school. I did many tasks which needed me to step out of my comfort zone. I will revisit the school full of complete memories.
Hannah:I have enjoyed today immensely. I feel it has given me an insight as to the life of Ms Higgins and also the teachers. I had a great day and enjoyed being productive even though we finish school in two days. Although some parts of Ms Higgins’ job are fun I wouldn’t want to be a principal as it seems very hard. It has given me a new respect for the work teachers and principals do. I wouldn’t know this, if it wasn’t for this wonderful experience.
