SKPS Community Update – Coronavirus (COVID-19)
AT THIS STAGE WE ARE NOT CLOSING
Dear Parents and Carers,
I write to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation for the positive and heart-warming comments regarding the running of our school during these trying times. I am aware of how understandably anxious some parents/carers are feeling as concerns grow over the COVID-19 pandemic. I would like you to know that the school is here to support you, in whatever capacity we can.
As you would know, the situation with COVID-19 is evolving quickly. You will be aware that the Government’s current viewpoint is that we keep our schools open for as long as the health authorities advise us to.
From the recent postings on Sue’s News, Konnective and Compass, you will be aware of actions taken to minimise contact beyond our school gate. In addition to the cancellation or postponement of those events listed, all extra curricula programs have also ceased temporarily, for example, Yoga Fun, Music Melodies and Chess. We will continue to use all 3 school communication streams to keep you informed
We continue to review our current practices and procedures daily to maintain the health and wellbeing of our children and staff. I would like to express my immense gratitude to families who are keeping their children at home if they are showing any signs of being unwell. Please continue to enter your child’s absences on the Parent Portal (Compass) as medical/illness.
If you have chosen to keep your child/ren at home as a preventative measure while school is open and they are not unwell, please logon to the Parent Portal and enter ‘Parent Choice’ as the reason from absence. Please also write in the comment box – ‘COVID-19 preventative action’.
If you would like more information regarding COVID-19 please go to www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus
If you would like to contact the school, please do so through the school’s email (email@example.com) or call on 03 9534 3993
In the event that we are advised by the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Department of Education and Training (DE&T) that we are to close, we have a detailed contingency plan prepared.
