In this post we will be telling you about how our school is introducing Solar Panels.
This is a picture of our current 60 Solar Panels which are on the Sakura building (we have been filming the current solar panels with a new drone the school won). They produce 12kW per day. As our average usage per day is 40-60kW we need to increase the amount of panels we have. We plan on using the roof space on our Manabi Building to add more solar panels. With this we can increase the amount of kilowatts to 60kW and produce enough renewable energy during the day to cover our every day usage.
We are planning on renting the new solar panels and pay them off over a few years, but we are still writing up a contract with the company and the Department of Education and Training. Anabel and the Year 5 Leadership Climate Action Group have been working very closely on this matter, we hope that by late 2019 we will have the contract finalised and then the panels can be put on the roof. We would also love to put some solar panels on the new building that we have received money for.
