The State School Spectacular is an amazing event that we are so lucky to be part of once again. Natasha Ogg and Mick Rennie are incredibly proud of the 17 students who make up the team who they had the great pleasure of watching in action today at their first rehearsal.
The Spectacular includes a cast of 3000 Victorian government school students, working towards a common goal in a collaborative, competition-free environment. Its dual aim is to provide an invaluable performing arts opportunity to Victoria’s government school students and to showcase the enormous talent that exists in our schools. The show celebrates a diversity of performance mediums, including choir, dance, vocal, drama, and orchestra. Our team are all in the dance ensemble. Students who participate in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular are provided with a unique opportunity to work with internationally renowned industry professionals across all disciplines, as well as the amazing experience of performing live in front of thousands of people.
In Mr Rennie’s words: ‘The students will remember and cherish this experience for the rest of their lives! The dancers who run it are inspiring and wonderful teachers who manage to get so much out of the children. At today’s rehearsal, they learned the choreography of 4 songs and now have the task of memorising them before we meet again with the other schools in 2 months’ time.
Not only was it a great way to spend a day but it also an opportunity to appreciate just how mature, respectful and talented our students are. We loved every minute!’
