During excellent weather conditions we held our first working bee on Sunday 25th of March. Once again there were many keen parents, children and teachers, many from Grade 1 and 2, who donated their time and energy in an atmosphere of fun, cooperation and community spirit. Our generous parents worked away at various tasks while children chipped in or played together in the sunshine.
A great deal was accomplished:
  • Planting edible plants underneath the Peppercorn trees on Dickens Street to create a community garden.
  • Building a leaf bin in the Productive Garden to decrease the amount of waste going to landfill.
  • Creating an outdoor learning area and replacing dead Bottle Brush trees in the Enchanted Garden.
  • Replacing old wooden planks from seating in the Junior Courtyard with Replas planks.
  • Weeding, tidying and beautifying the Productive Garden.
  • Planting 6 Crepe Myrtles and 1 Prunus Cerasifera ‘Nigra’ (purple leaf cherry plum) along the Brighton Road fence.
  • Sweeping and cleaning the asphalt area.
  • Painting wooden cable reels in bright colours to create new tables for our outdoor classrooms.
  • Raking and repositioning tan bark around/in the Junior playground.
Thank you to the many people who supported the Working Bee. Your support makes a huge difference to our school. Thank you!
