Late in 2016 we asked our community – students, parents and staff for input into the development of our 2017-2020 Masterplan.
Based on the enormous amount of data we received, we developed a ‘Lessons Learnt’ and ‘Action Items’ list and identified 3 major areas for improvement that we were able to action:
East side of the school along Chapel St
We decided to focus in 2017 on the oval and the toilets and have already achieved a great deal!
We have engaged Melbourne Turf to look after our oval. They have mowed the grass every 6 weeks, aired it, treated against broad leaf and have laid new seed and turf around one goal area that was in great need of attention. In addition, we have engaged a new company to fix and maintain our oval sprinkler system.
With the help of funding from the Department of Education we have completely gutted and refitted the senior toilets in the Shiawaze building (old Junior Building). We removed old lino, increased the number of stalls in the girls toilet to 5, installed a new urinal, toilets and sinks with water saving taps, laid new tiles and fitted new partitions in the SKPS colours. The toilets and hallways were also freshly painted.
We have started to improve the east side of the school by removing the ramp at the back of Sakura building and repositioned the scooter rack to create more space for easier access to all buildings.
The reminder of the east side beautification will be main focus for 2018, and funds raised at our Fete will be dedicated to this project.
We are now in the process od finalizing the Masterplan, which will become the map to show our journey from where we are now to where we want to be.
